Know that song One Less Lonely Girl thats all over the radio and sounds like a 13-year-old singing? For those of you out of the loop (or just don’t care; me included), it’s Justin Beiber. The now 15-year-old started posting videos of himself singing on YouTube, where he was discovered at 13 by a marketing exec at So So Def Records, who introduced him to Usher, who flew him out to audition for L.A. Reid, who then signed him to Island Records in 2008. At the same time, apparently Justin Timberlake was also trying to sign him.
Skip forward to today, and although his debut record doesn’t come out until later this month, he’s become the only artist in Billboard history to have four singles from an album chart in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 before the album’s release.
This is the video that started it all.
