In front of each screen were the creators and designers behind apps like Paper, Mixel, Tweetbot, Piictu, Path, and the upcoming Cameo.

While CI environments do take time to implement, and you will need to keep up on writing tests, we believe that over the long haul they’re akin to a snowflake falling on the top of the mountain – they’ll gain momentum over time.

So what does ours look like? Here’s our list of ingredients:

GitHub

Jenkins

Repoman

Debian/Ubuntu

Fabric

Our code works its way through this system and, eventually, winds up on our production servers. For our purposes, our process is distinctly broken up into two major steps: continuous integration (GitHub, Jenkins, Repoman, Ubuntu, and Fabric) and deployment/systems automation (Chef, Ubuntu, AWS, and Fabric). This post will only focus on our CI environment. So what’s the life cycle for code being committed as it works its way through our continuous integration?

This is how we’ve built Cameo thus far, and its an awesome setup. Commit > Push > Sit back (as long as you didn’t screw anything up)

"65 percent of children entering grade school this year will end up working in careers that haven’t..."

“65 percent of children entering grade school this year will end up working in careers that haven’t even been invented yet.”

-
Cathy N. Davidson
Professor at Duke University

Found this quote on the parents site for the awesome new DIY app for kids. It’s crazy to consider, but the Cameo team is at least 50% comprised of roles that didn’t exist 4 years ago (like iOS developer). As we push the limits of hardware and software, I’m positive that percentage will grow even more.

This weekend I made a game with Shaun Inman and Alex Ogle for the Ludum Dare 72-hour jam. It’s called Millinaut, and it’s a platformer with a three-headed twist.

You can play it here (in Flash, lol), or if you participated in Ludum Dare yourself, vote for it here. Go, dude and planet and rocket, find a new home!

This is awesome.
What’s interesting about Mimas, is its resemblance to the Death Star is merely coincidence as Mimas was not clearly photgraphed until a few years after A New Hope came out.

One day, while filming a wide shot of the landscape, directors Joel Coen and Ethan Coen had to halt shooting for the day when a gigantic cloud of dark smoke floated conspicuously into view. Paul Thomas Anderson was testing the pyrotechnics of an oil derrick set ablaze on the set of his film. The Coens resumed filming the next day, when the smoke finally dissipated. A year and a half later, both films were the leading contenders at the Academy Awards.”

- No Country For Old Men trivia

The Game

The Game:
Business Insider on January 6, 2011 after OMGPOP’s $10 million Series B:

IS HE NUTS? This Guy Thinks He Can Beat A $5.5 Billion Company With A $10 Million Funding Round

Business Insider today after OMGPOP was purchased for about $200 million by aforementioned $5.5 billion (now public) company, Zynga:

“OMGPop Sold Way Too Early — They Left $800 Million On The Table”

You literally cannot win.

If they had turned down the offer, the headline would have been:

OMG: OMGPOP Nuts To Turn Down Zynga’s $200 Million Offer

Until a year from now when the follow-up headline would have been:

NUTS: OMGPOP Takes Zynga’s Billion Dollar Offer But Should Have Held Out A Year To Buy Zynga
